Development Agency Supports

Following the transition to the Presidential Government System in Turkey, the responsibility for reducing regional development disparities was assigned to the Ministry of Industry and Technology under Presidential Decrees No. 1 and 4. Within this framework, the Ministry of Industry and Technology was also made responsible for the national coordination of Development Agencies.

The founding purpose of Development Agencies, as defined in Presidential Decree No. 4, is to accelerate regional development, ensure its sustainability, and reduce inter-regional and intra-regional development disparities in harmony with policies determined by the President, by enhancing cooperation between the public sector, private sector, and non-governmental organizations, ensuring the local and effective use of resources, and mobilizing local potential.

In line with this goal, the main duties of the Development Agencies are summarized as:

Preparing strategies related to regional development.
Conducting studies and supporting ongoing efforts to determine the resources and opportunities of the regions, accelerate economic and social development, and increase competitiveness.
Supporting cooperation and coordination among public, private sector, and non-governmental organizations to achieve regional development goals.
Researching and promoting business and investment opportunities in the regions and ensuring the attraction of resources to the region.
Providing support for local and rural development activities.
Supporting entrepreneurship and the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Contributing to the development of the technical capacities of local governments and organizations in the region.
Ensuring the single-point follow-up and coordination of permit and license procedures for investors coming to the region.
Carrying out intermediary and coordination activities for the use of international funds by stakeholders in the region.
